Our GST/HST Rebate Services
If you've completed building your own home or hired someone to build your home, in the last two years, you may be eligible to claim the new housing rebate for part of the GST/HST. You may receive up to a maximum of $30,000. The application process can be a confusing course to navigate when you build your own home, but we have the skills and experience necessary to guide you through the process in a stress-free manner.
Individuals who buy a new rental property for investment purposes may qualify for a GST/HST Rebate. Again, you can receive up to a maximum of $30,000 but you must plan on renting out the unit to tenants for at least one year. Once the property is rented, you have two years from the closing date to claim your rebate. The application process can be a complex one, but not when you have our team by your side.
Homeowners who have undertaken a significant renovation or made an addition to their home may qualify for a GST/HST Rebate. "Substantial Renovations" means at least 90% of your home's interior had to be removed or replaced in order for you to qualify for the maximum rebate. How Is the HST Rebate Calculated
The HST Rebate is calculated as Ontario home buyers may be eligible for a credit of 75% of the Ontario portion (8%) of the HST and 36% of the federal portion (5%) of the HST paid. For example, buyers of a new $600,000 home would pay slightly more than $69,000 in HST. 75% of the provincial portion of the HST, which is approximately $42,500, is $31,850. As the maximum provincial rebate is $24,000. The home owner would be receive a credit of $24,000 on their new home. The buyer would not receive a credit for the federal portion of the HST since the value of the house is as greater than $450,000.
