You may be eligible to receive the GST/HST New Home Rebate if you fall into one of these three categories:

Owner-Built Homes

If you or a builder has built your primary place of residence, in the last two years, you may be eligible to claim the new housing rebate for part of the GST/HST. The owner of the home may receive up to a maximum of $30,000. The application process can be a confusing course to navigate with an owner-built house, but we have the skills and experience necessary to guide you through the process in a stress-free manner.

Substantially Renovated Homes

Homeowners who have undertaken a substantial renovation or made a major addition to their house may qualify for a GST/HST Rebate. A "Substantially Renovated House" means at least 90% of property interior had to be removed or replaced in order for you to qualify for the maximum rebate. Additions to your house qualify as well, however, they must be at least double the size of your current liveable areas. Always keep your receipts for all goods and services you purchase to pass along to us.

New Residential Rental Properties

Individuals who purchased a new residential rental property for investment purposes may qualify for a GST/HST Rebate. Again, a buyer can receive up to a maximum of $30,000 but you must plan on renting out the unit to tenants for at least one year. Once the property is rented, you have two years from the closing date to claim your GST/HST rebates. The application process can be a complex one, but not when you have our team by your side.

When Will I Receive My GST/HST Rebate In Ontario?

The CRA typically processes GST/HST Rebates within four to eight weeks, unless it is selected for a random audit which will delay the process. If you’ve been sent a Notice of Assessment in which your application has been denied and would like to file a Notice of Objection, we can do so on your behalf. We will handle all discussions with the CRA and all aspects of the rebate procedure so accurate and important information are relayed correctly. You don’t pay us until you get paid!

Can I claim the rebate on a non-residential property or modular home?

The provincial rebate is available on a new or substantially renovated house. This includes an owner-built primary place of residence, a rental house, or residential property that has undergone extensive construction and renovation. Homebuyers can apply for the rebate up to two years after the purchase of the new home and construction on the existing property. The value of the house does affect the provincial new rebate in Ontario
